The "Wow Factor"!

Creating unexpected touches that instantly surprise and delight your guests is what we call the "wow factor". They can be as small as adding a unique DIY (do-it-yourself) detail to your placecards, or something more substantial, such as the show-stopping floral design that embellishes the aisle seat in this featured photograph. The oversized philodendron leaf is what makes this touch so dramatic and sensational. I love it!

I enjoy when I see my Brides come up with creative and personalized projects that will enhance their Wedding and make it a truly one-of-a-kind celebration. I hope to see and share some of their inspirational ideas!

I think that the "wow" factor is a very important part of your wedding. Its the little things that are different that people will remember and will look great in your pictures. I am thinking about using silver place cards and gluing white ostrich feathers to the back of them for that wow factor. There are many websites that you can purchase these feathers (ex. ostrich.com), but I found them at Michaels for about $2.00 a bag and since I dont need huge feathers they should do just fine. Let me know if you find any other good deals on feathers.

Very glamorous, Devon:-) Since the "glam" look is in, (well in my opinion it's always in), this idea is going to be very striking. Make sure you experiment with the feathers first and maybe see what one looks like on the front instead of the back. TIP...have your placecards printed before you begin gluing! AND, what about punctuating the feather with a small crystal. I think that would heighten the glamorous look it sounds like you are trying to achieve. Have fun with your project and send me a picture!!!!

The crystal is a great idea. I love it! I also had a question on the wording for the invitations. If the brides parents are paying for the wedding, but the grooms parents contributed a little to one of the vendors (the band), how should i word the invitation. Should I keep just the brides parents names(mr. and ms. smith) or do i include the grooms also (together w their parents)? What is the proper etiquette

Hi Devon! That small crystal idea will have BIG impact:-) Now, about the wording...I should start by asking you to define the phrase "a little". Did they offer $100, $1,000, $5,000? If the Groom's parents contributed a considerable amount of money, I WOULD include them on your Wedding invitation. It is a nice gesture and a very appropriate way to express gratitude. List YOUR parents first...and then after the Groom's name it should read, "son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Smith". Hopefully that helped:-)
